A Lesson In Going For It

Blessings to you during this Fall Equinox time – may the changes that come into your life be gentle and supportive.

In my last newsletter I said I was committed to getting a wetsuit so that I could finally go play in the ocean – and I got one! Here I am, all suited up on a warm day last week in Santa Cruz. It was so great! Really, these things are like magic – you don’t feel the cold at all (duh) and it was so fun to float around and even boogie board a bit. (I’ll tackle the surfboard another time). The little kids and grown up kids inside of me were so happy. How could I have waited 5 years to get one?

Do you stop yourself like that too? What is that?! Why do we deny ourselves the things we really want? Or sabotage ourselves by making excuses about why we can’t or won’t do something. (Nah, I don’t really want to go in the ocean, it’s too cold; wetsuits are way too hard to put on; aren’t they expensive?; I have no one to play with, blah blah blah… )

I guess we just hang out in our (dis)comfort zone – because it’s sooo comfortable, predictable and safe there, right?

I try to live my life pushing against stuff like this – I don’t want my complacency or my tolerance of the “good enoughs” to have control of my life.

Am I satisfied with where I am or not? Is there something more I’m wanting in my life that I’m resisting or denying myself? I try to look at my real feelings, especially the uncomfortable ones, and push through my excuses and go for what I want – no matter how hard. Because the excuses and the denials actually take SO much effort to sustain – think of how great you would feel if you could liberate all that stuck energy and all that energy of yearning.

I want you to get what you want too. I encourage you to go for it – get that “wetsuit” or sign up for that class or take that leap – whatever it is that you want. Following are some helpers:

Essential oil suggestions for the courage to go for it: ginger, helichrysum, birch, cassia, and juniper berry.

Let me know how it goes. And let me know if you want my help.

Blessings,

Colleen
