2 minute morning routine to increase your capacity to heal and thrive:
Start by going screenless for the first ten minutes of the day. Resist the urge to check your phone which may trigger you into reaction mode. You are worth these few minutes of self care to set the tone for your day.
What to do in those minutes? Pause, Move, Connect.
PAUSE:
- Before your morning beverage, have a glass of water (your first of many throughout the day). (10 seconds).
- As you prepare your morning beverage of choice, take a deep breath, and send your grounding cords deep down into the center of the earth. (10 seconds)
MOVE:
- Next, bounce gently on the balls of your feet, getting your circulation going, especially of the lymphatic fluid that’s been mostly still all night. (30 seconds)
- Do a few gentle stretches with some deep breaths, arms above your head, bending from side to side, forward and backward… waking up the body and moving out any stiffness. (30 seconds)
CONNECT:
- Sit by a window if possible, getting natural light into your eyes first thing, to boosts serotonin, your feel-good hormone.
- Greet the day with something like “Good morning world!”, visualizing our beautiful planet with all its life forms, and feeling the connection with All That Is. (10 seconds)
- Then notice 3 things you are grateful for (the sun or the rain, your fuzzy slippers, the trees outside your window, your loving pet/child/partner, the roof over your head, the city you live in…) You may find yourself listing many more than three. Try rotating this list every morning and see what new things pop into your awareness from the incredible abundance all around you, even if you slept terribly or you’re stressed about your upcoming day and you’re feeling off. (10 seconds)
That’s it! Feel free to switch up the order of these and make it your own.
**At the end you can even add in some intentions for how you’d like your day to go and how you’d like to feel.**
A simple, quick, high-vibe way to start your day. Be consistent with these small but impactful habits and notice how you feel. Now you can pick up your phone 😉
